AEW’s Andrade El Idolo & Sammy Guevara Cut Deep with Twitter Beef; RAW Recap before Extreme Rules and More Wrestling News and Gossip

Columnist Rob Pasbani breaks down the latest AEW backstage drama, along with previewing the big wrestling shows this week.

AEW is definitely having some growing pains when it comes to talent relations. While the investigation into the backstage fight between CM Punk and the Young Bucks is still ongoing, a new backstage battle seems to be brewing with Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara. Things seem to be getting heated pretty fast.

In a new interview with Más Lucha, Andrade was asked about the Punk/Bucks altercation and used the moment to reveal his own backstage trouble with Guevara after they wrestled.

Fightful transcribes: "I learned about the gossip initially via social media with many headlines saying "The guy fought this guy" and all that. Everyone usually stays in the same hotel on Wednesday for Dynamite until the Thursday after. I trained in the gym and then a guy reached out to me and asked if I had heard about the altercation and I was like "What? When? What happened?!". I learned that there was an issue between Kenny (Omega) & CM Punk. The two of them have always greeted me well, and I got nothing bad to say about them, and the same thing goes for The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson). They are all good with me, but I did have one issue with a wrestler. I am going to say his name, it was Sammy Guevara. I had an issue with him because he once came to the locker room and complained that we hit him too hard. It's wrestling, solve it in the ring. If I hit hard, hit me hard too. I learned that he came in and that he accused me like a little girl. After I learned about it, I spoke to him and asked if he had an issue with me, but he said he did not and that's all there was to it. It's funny because not even in WWE. For example, Sheamus likes to hit, and all my respect for him because he loves to hit hard and loves the strikes. He is wild. Even The Miz likes to throw strikes. Not even John Cena complained about me, so if he did not complain, imagine this kid who is just starting, but there's that."

After word spread on Twitter of Andrada's comments, Sammy tweeted "You are a jobber. A favor hire. Be grateful bitch."

Andrade then tweeted "I said it to your FACE if you had a problem with me and you said NOTHING, I won't beat your ass because I'm a professional, don’t be scared. When I say something I name names, and I'm not scared to get fired! #Sammy"

Sammy responded "YOU didn't say shit to me you liar but here's some truth you ungrateful prick You would be jobless if it wasn’t for your dad-in-law. Are you really mad at me or mad at yourself for failing to get over for a SECOND time? Just go back to WWE like we all know you want to do & fuck off."

Andrade concluded the conversation by saying "Ok I’m a liar 😂 see you on Wednesday!! I'll tell you to your face again!!! and nothing you say that you do not have any problem!"

This is the second backstage altercation Sammy has had with an opponent. He and Eddie Kingston had some words that led to Kingston getting suspended for two weeks after Kingston admittedly got too heated.

The duo did have excellent chemistry in the ring, so if this is something that was a shoot that at some point gets turned into a work, I'll be looking forward to the rematch. Even if this IS a work, it does seem like Sammy's comments are a bit too far? It feels like a bad marketing move to acknowledge publicly that some AEW wrestlers want to go back to WWE.

What happened on the last RAW before WWE Extreme Rules?

The short answer – not much, really. There were some matches but the focus was mostly on setting up all the big Raw matches that take place at Extreme Rules this Saturday, which you can watch on Peacock.

The Judgement Day storyline continued with the trio continuing to try to recruit AJ Styles. Styles teamed with Rey Mysterio to face Finn Balor and Damien Priest. At the end of the match, Rey got distracted by his son, who is with Judgement Day now. His distraction resulted in a double team on AJ leading to Judgement Day winning. After the match, AJ shoved Rey down out of frustration, teasing a turn may be imminent.

Meanwhile, Bayley and her crew, Damage CTRL beat up Bianca Belair with a ladder to set up their big ladder match this Saturday:

And the Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle feud culminates in a fight pit match this Saturday. We learned that UFC star Daniel Cormier will be the special guest ref:
